Theodore Roosevelt is indeed one of our most beloved Presidents and U.S. citizens. The problem is that most Americans know nothing about his term in office. What most only know that he was a Rough Rider in the Spanish-American War. This two-part film will clear that up. For example, how many readers know that TR was a victim of an assassination attempt? (Obviously he survived!) Or that he was seriously injured in an accident when a streetcar slammed into his carriage? (NOTE: No cars were used at the White House while Teddy was President. President Taft, who followed him had a “stable“ of fine American cars like the White Steamer and the inimitable Pierce Arrow. (Taft had mercy on the horses! It’s tough carrying around a 300+pound President!)

He was married twice (that’s a story in itself) and had one daughter, Alice Lee by his first wife, and a large family by his second wife. Eleanor Roosevelt, whom we examined last March, was his niece and he gave her away at the wedding. Eleanor was the daughter of his brother, who had died from alcoholism. This will be a comprehensive examination of the life of Theodore Roosevelt.

He is on the board of the SJHC, the HPSUT and the Seaville Friends Meeting.

He has published several secondary history curriculum guides and two books, Upper Township and its Ten Villages and Visas to Shanghai (about the Chinese diplomat, Feng-Shan Ho who saved thousands of Viennese Jews during the Holocaust by writing them exit visas), both of which are available to check out from the library.
