Celebrate Deaf Awareness Month and learn what it means and why it is important. We will explore Deaf culture, ASL, visual communication, accessibility, and the Deaf community through discussion and interactive activities. Participants will also learn ways they can celebrate Deaf Awareness Month and continue learning from and supporting the Deaf community.
Hello! I am Tiffany Narciso, but I go by T or TAN. I am passionate about educating and connecting with people who are curious about the Deaf community, whether they are completely new to it or already have some knowledge. I enjoy helping people learn more about Deaf culture, ASL, Deaf history, accessibility, and Deaf resources in engaging and meaningful ways.
My teaching journey began in 2014 at a Deaf education center on Ebeye Island in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Today, I teach American Sign Language at Princeton University and have more than 10 years of teaching experience. I earned my B.S.W. and M.A. in Sign Language Education from Gallaudet University.
Outside of teaching, I give back to the Deaf community through volunteer service as Vice President of the New Jersey Association of the Deaf (NJAD) and as a Deaf Kids Coordinator with the Atlantic County Society of the Deaf (ACSD).
