Purpose
In order to protect the identities and information of our patrons, the Cape May County Library takes every available measure to protect the data entrusted to us. This is undertaken both as an acknowledged responsibility and as a part of the ethics inherent to library work. (See the American Library Association's statement on Privacy and other ALA public documents for details.)
Your Data
The Cape May County Library will not sell or use your data for any purposes beyond regular library transactions as required by our lending and service processes. Further, your data will not be shared with our service providers except in the act of validating your patron status and will not be utilized by the same except in the terms outlined by their respective EULAs and Privacy Policies. (Such as that of our events calendar and website host, Communico.)
These practices will be excepted only in the provision of information as required by law or with the express permission of a library patron to share their borrower permissions with a family member.
Technology
The library will ensure the use of best practices in all services we offer. However, we are not responsible for the security of patron email or login data for our services, nor the outcomes of utilization of these services. This includes utilization of our internet services, both in the library and via borrowed hotspots.
